Photo artist interview #23 - Fubz

• In 2 words, what do you shoot?

Split seconds

• What’s your weapon of choice?

Hasselblad 500, or Canon 5d, Polaroid 440

• Where is your favorite place on earth?

Not sure yet.

• Why do you take pictures?

Create my own vision of life.

• What would be your replacement Hobby/Profession if photography was dead?

Building things.

• Sleep, Eat, Sleepwalk while eating?

Just fucked up my brain.. good question.

• What do you favor:

B&W or Color ? depends on the subject

Film or Digital ? Film, if I was a rich man, digi gets the ideas out.

Studio or Location? LOCATION

Night or Day? whenever

Portrait or Landscape? Both, I find a lot of solice in shooting landscape, more of a personal experience, and shooting portraits is capturing a humans essence, both amazing.

Ren or Stimpy? Stimpy..

• What is your most treasured possession?

I really more and more could never pick one, possessions are not that important at the end of the day.. we all have lost and broken, favorite things, and we keeping living..

• Favorite photo book and/or Favorite movie?

Lee Freidlanders “signs of the city” and movie. Baraka is up there, with Big Lebowski

• Photographer/s that inspire you?

Walker Evans, Hiro, B+, Kareem Black, Brian Ulrich, Adam Amengual

• Advice for the younglings out there looking through their first viewfinder?

Keep shooting, never think too much, just shoot.

• What’s the story behind the photo below?

Ever since I’ve been shooting, NYC has always been a focal point of my life and work and inspiration. I am intrigued by spatial relations, and communications. I feel that the subway is an amazing social experiment everyday, how people react to each other in close quarters. It is somewhat difficult to capture that straight on, the true essence of that. So I started shooting people in the reflections of subway walls, it has added an amazing dreamlike feel, which is right on for the subway. Everyone zones out, only time off the “GRID” That is that.. its an ongoing series.

• Any future projects or travels?

There are always a handful of lifes works, working. I have a couple projects currently in the mix, working melding my two groupings of work, documentary work with music artists, showing the process of creating.

• Where can we see more of your work?

FUBZ.NET

• In 1 word, last thing you’d say if time stopped right NOW?
