• In 1-2 words, what do you shoot?
always on location.
• What’s your weapon of choice?
Canon 5D mk 2, although my old Nikon FM2 was better, a proper camera, no battery , always worked . You could hear the cogs moving inside.
• Where is your favorite place on earth?
Stanage Edge, Derbyshire, UK.
• What would be your replacement Hobby/Profession if photography was dead?
Any Creative medium, film I guess
• What do you favor:
B&W or Color? Very weak Colour ☺
Film or Digital? Digital
Studio or Location? Location, I find studios prison cells
Night or Day? Anytime -doesn’t matter
Portrait or Landscape? Landscape, its how my eyes see
Dave Chappelle or David LaChapelle? Neither -David Shrigley
• What is your most treasured possession?
I like my David Hockney etching of Rumplestiltskin tearing himself in two very much.
• Favorite photo book and/or Favorite movie?
Work by Brian Griffin, In Flagrante by Chris Killip / Cries an Whispers by Ingmar Bergman.
• Photographer/s that inspire you?
Chris Killip / Eugene Richards
• Advice for the younglings out there looking through their first viewfinder?
Don’t get hung up on being a photographer, the important thing is to use a camera to get your ideas across to an audience . There are too many technically brilliant photographers that don’t say anything, don’t be fooled by them!
• What’s the story behind the photo below?
It’s a picture of Hudson Mohawke from the collaboration I did with Stuart Hammersley at GiveUpArt and Bleep. We were doing a set a portraits that were based around odd but real locations we found by chance. This was a basement in a abandoned building in east Glasgow next door to the hotel we were staying at. Id noticed that it was full of cups that the builders had thrown down from the café next door, so we borrowed a ladder to get down, climbed in and shot really quickly, with one light from above. Its funny how pictures can happen so quickly sometimes, we all knew we had it instantly.
• Any future projects or travels?
Always, I try not to talk about them though, just go and do them. As a photographer you will always have debt through financing trips, but you will have something that most people don’t have-life experiences.
• Where can we see more of your work?
You can see most of my work at www.shaunbloodworth.com or www.giveupart.com
• In 1 word, last thing you’d say if time stopped right NOW?
oof

from the archives. The Bronx. circa 89.
I recently purchased Janette Beckman's new book "THE BREAKS"
This book is fresh and has so many iconic images during the growth of hip hop culture in the 80's. I was a youngin during this decade but still continue to daydream what it might have been like to be a top shotta during this era. While I was in NYC last week I found one of the first rolls of film I ever shot with a Kodak Instamatic. These two shots are my connection to that decade. respect.
